In our role in assisting suppliers that must ship prototype part orders to Ford Motor
Company's Vehicle Operations NMPDC, we are making available specifications necessary to
generate the ANSI 856 that must accompany these prototype build orders.
Prototype build orders must include:
- Labels attached to each part*
- Carton labels for each container shipped
- Packing slips with part number and order number
- An ASN for all parts/orders in the shipment
The significant differences between a production and prototype build ASN are:
- Including the PO number AND line code
- Serializing each carton label
- Including the serial number on the ASN
Suppliers can meet these requirements by either utilizing their own EDI system or by using
ProjectSynergy’s Shipment Manager software to meet Ford’s prototype shipment
requirements. If you require further assistance, please email your request to
techsupport@projectsynergy.com
(* Please note that STANDARD fasteners do not require an individual prototype part label.
Please check with your Ford contact if you are not certain.)
